James started his career in special effects in 2007, having gained a work experience position, working for John Richardson on Harry Potter. James was subsequently offered a full time trainee position in 2008.
Since then he has gained experience in all fields of special effects every job learning new skills to make him better at what he does.

- Experience in all common floor effects, Smoke, wind, rain, fires etc.
- Experience in working with different materials for constructing rigs.
- Machining knowledge, Mill’s, lathe’s etc.
- Knowledge and experience in more intricate gags. Constructing and adapting.
- Pyro experience. Bullet hits on cast and set, fuel bangs etc.
- Fork lift and Telehandler Training.
- Scissor lift and Cherry picker Training.
